Last year I had the opportunity to shoot new publicity and promotional material for Duke The Band, which featured in Hello May Magazine. We shot in a beautiful white studio in St Peters, filling the room with fresh-cut flowers and all had a vintage romance aesthetic.
More recently, Duke and I got together again to shoot a new series for them, but this time we got to explore a more whimsical story inspired by Tim Walker. After collecting balloons, confetti, smoke flares and vintage instruments, we created a travelling carnival band vibe, lots of pastel colours, and fun energy. We shot the work down on the rocks at Mackenzie’s Bay, during the renowned ‘Sculpture by the Sea’ exhibition that runs between Bondi Beach and Tamarama Beach. That meant once the sun had risen, we were inundated with tourists taking photos of us working, and intrigued onlookers observing our every move. Needless to say, amongst the audience, and the crashing waves, which ended up becoming so dangerous that sculptures in the exhibition were being washed away (Click Here), the band were really happy with what we came up with, and the shots below really make you smile 🙂 Don’t they!
